A March Pictorial Update

March 2015

The beams have been re-designed and now it looks like we are having the Golden Gate Bridge installed in our attic...

A recent Wall Street Journal includes a rather disturbing, sober article, “Europe’s Empty Churches Go on Sale.” Using a potent, thought-provoking recent neologism, the article discusses how many churches have been “repurposed” to become retail stores, spas, restaurants, and even a skateboard park.

Not to sensationalize this headline, but recognizing that this European reality is not too awfully far from our own society’s increasing dying away, Trinity Church of Greenville is fervently trying to maintain the purpose of the sanctuary of the former Third Presbyterian Church. We have purchased this property from the Foothills Presbytery under wonderfully gracious terms, but have a long way to go in structural repairs and refurbishing the interior. A friend of our church has offered us a generous gift of $50,000 with a promise of another gift if we meet his challenge of raising another $50,000 outside our normal giving by Easter.

We’re hoping you’ll consider helping us in our endeavors. In this season of Epiphany may we all consider how our gift-giving can “show forth” the Christ. Whether your relationship is to one of our members or our fellowship or the Kingdom at large, we’d be grateful for your help. (Please specify “match” for the designation of your gift.)

“Above all, keep your love for one another at full strength […] Whatever gift each of you may have received, use it in service to one another, like good stewards dispensing the grace of God in its varied forms. […] In all things so act that the glory may be God’s through Jesus Christ; to him belong glory and power for ever and ever. Amen” (I Peter 4: 9-11)

Together in Christ,
